Welcome Back

Welcome back everyone!  I'm excited to start another school year.  This year marks my 25th year teaching Health and Physical Education.  It is my 16th year teaching at OCS.  Although we are still be faced with many challenges, I know we will all work together and make it a great year!

We will get outside for PE as much as we can.  Students in grades 6-8 will change into gym uniforms for PE class.  As the weather changes, students may bring a sweatshirt.  The grass is usually wet for early morning classes.  Students may also bring a change of socks and shoes.  Another good hygiene tip is deodorant for after class.  Deodorant must be stick or roll-on type.  Aerosol sprays of anykind are not allowed in school.

For Health class, students should be prepared as they would for all their other academic classes.  Arrive for class ready to work with a positive attitude.

If you need to reach me at school, email is the fastest (rhart@oxfordcentral.org).  You can also reach me at 453-4101 x2104.  I usually don't get a chance to check my phone messages until the afternoon.  I look forward to working with you all!

A Few Things.....

Monday, April 26, 2021 we return to school for 5 days a week.  As we welcome all students back into the building, there will be schedule changes.  Our in person students will have two physical education classes and one health class per week.  They will no longer need to TURN IN assignments in google classroom.  Those students who are remaining fully virtual will still receive assignments to complete in google classroom.  Health work will also be sent home for some grade level students.

Next week is the mid marking period for the 4th marking period.  Please make sure any assignments that have not been turned in are completed and TURNED IN for credit.

Finally, please make sure to support our 8th graders by ordering food from Cafe 57.  Flyers went home earlier this week.  Their cinnamon buns are AMAZING!!!

I hope everyone had a relaxing spring break!  The end of the school year will be here before we know it.  Please continue to work hard  and turn your work in on time.

As the weather continues to improve, I will try to get my classes outside as much as possible.  Please be prepared to go outside for PE from now till the end of the school year!  Most days students will be on the blacktop along Church Street.  A sweatshirt or light jacket may be needed for the earlier morning classes.

If you have any questions, feel free to email me, rhart@oxfordcentral.org.  Have a great week everyone!

Spring Break starts this week...

These next two weeks are short weeks.  For this reason we have combined them into one week.  Students will only need to fill out one daily exercise log.  You will see this posted in their google classroom as "Week #29 & #30- Phys. Ed. Only".  No work is assigned for the students' days off!  Everyone needs a break.  Please enjoy the time off to relax and "reboot."  The end is almost in sight!!!  Have a safe and relaxing spring break everyone!

Snow Day fun.....

I have always said "I like one good snow storm a year!"  Well, we finally had one! I hope you all had some fun in the snow and helped your families and neighbors dig out.

I had fun playing ice hockey on our quarry with my kids and their friends.  I milked cows, fed the calves and dug them out, plowed the lane and all around the buildings.  And in between all these things, my son and I got our school work completed!!!  Enjoy everyone.  Be safe.

Welcome Back!!!

It was great to see students back in the building today.

Just a reminder as we begin the third marking period (we reviewed this in class today too!), all students are mandated to complete a minimum of 150 minutes of health and/or physical education per week.  Students receive 40 minutes of PE when they are in the building each week.  The other 110 minutes comes from the work posted in google classroom.  Students turning in their assignments ON TIME is our documentation that this is being done.  Work that is turned in late or not at all is graded accordingly and reflected on their report card.  Failing grades for multiple marking periods will result in repeating the course to meet the state standards.  I can not stress enough the importance of completing your work on time.  Please make every effort to take on the responsibility of completing your work...did I mention completing the work ON TIME?!

Have a great rest of the week OCS!  Don't forget to wear RED, WHITE, and BLUE tomorrow in honor of Inauguration Day.

Wednesday, January 13, 2021

Second marking period ends this Friday, January 15, 2021!!!  I will accept unfinished assignments until Monday, January 18, 2021.  Work that is turned in late will be marked accordingly (5 points off for each week it is late).  Please make every effort to turn in all work on time!

I have received several emails regarding grades for Health and PE.  Please remember, what you see in google classroom is not your grade.  Genesis shows a percentage, but this isn't the grade that will be posted on the report card.  All special area teachers are using S (satisfactory), NI (needs improvement), and U (unsatisfactory) for mid-term and final grades on the report card.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to email me- rhart@oxfordcentral.org.  Have a great rest of the week.  I am looking forward to seeing everyone next week!!!  Until then.....

Welcome 2021...

Welcome back everyone!  Hopefully you all had a great winter break and are rested and ready to get back into "school mode!"  Assignments are posted in google classroom.  Please remember to TURN IN your work on Friday.  If you have any questions or concerns, please email me (rhart@oxfordcentral.org).

Create a work space, get organized, participate, and WORK HARD!!!  Don't forget to GET OUTSIDE for fresh air and exercise.  Have a great week!
